Collections

We care for the University’s permanent collection, which numbers approximately 30,000 artworks that span media and movements in Canadian, European and Indigenous art.

Although not on permanent display, works from the collection are featured in our exhibitions, publications, educational and public programs, and are shared online.

Artworks are powerful vehicles for critical thinking. The collection is an extraordinary resource for object-based teaching and learning at Carleton, across disciplines.

Collection-based exhibitions curated by Carleton students account for approximately 30% of all exhibitions presented at CUAG since 1992. We encourage university educators to use the collection to support their course goals and to bring classes to the gallery to view artworks from the collection.
