Block print party with Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona

Join other Indigenous folks for a fun afternoon creating block prints!

CUAG invites members of the local Indigenous community to join artist Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona for a guided workshop to learn how to create your own prints using ink and carved lino as a stamp. Make cards, art prints or tags! 

All skill levels are welcome! Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be provided. Registration is free and includes all materials.

Please note, this workshop is created for Indigenous folks in the Ottawa / Gatineau area. 

Access  CDCC is a fully accessible space, with an elevator and barrier-free washrooms. The Para Transpo drop-off and an entrance with ramps are located on the 290 Lisgar Street side of the building.  

Paid visitor parking is available in the CDCC’s Lisgar Street lot. The cost on weekends is a flat rate of $4.00. There is also street parking available nearby. 

 

Participants

Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona is an Ottawa-based multidisciplinary artist who creates ceramics, prints, graphic art, wall hangings, knitwear and more. Kabloona’s work is inspired by the art of her grandmother, Victoria Mamnguqsualuk, and the colours and bold shapes of her great-grandmother Jessie Oonark’s work. She often incorporates traditional Inuit stories told through a contemporary feminist lens. Follow her work on @uyagaqi
