We have really missed gathering with you over the past two years! This summer, we have organized a series of free in-person workshops, performances and walks. We hope these events provide spaces for exchange and joy, spark conversation and learning, and celebrate being and participating in a creative community together.
All events are free and in-person, and take place on unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin territory. Access information is included in individual event listings.
Sewing workshop with Augatnaaq Eccles / 12-13 May / all day / Inuuqatigiit Centre
Artist Augatnaaq Eccles will lead Inuit youth in a two-day workshop to sew children’s parkas at Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families. More information here
Timelines: Piano Performance and Conversation / 13 June at 7 p.m. / Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre
Beverley McKiver and Debra Grass will perform their suite for two pianos, a musical journey through Canadian history that puts the idea of reconciliation into action. Followed by a Q&A moderated by Larissa Desrosiers and refreshments. Co-presented with G101. More information here
Cosmic Chemistry: Performances after The Baroness / 25 June at 4:30 p.m. / Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre
An afternoon of experimental choral performances featuring Gabriel Dharmoo and Kathy Kennedy improvising with vocalists from the Ottawa-Gatineau queer community. It’s a happening! Refreshments included. Co-presented with Qu’ART Ottawa and Music, Sound and Society in Canada. More information here
Sketch & Stretch with Corinne Blouin / 14 July, 4 August and 18 August at 7 p.m. / The Arboretum
Relax and express yourself with combined drawing and sketching sessions in the beautiful Arboretum. More information here
Collage Party with FEZA and DJ Celestial / 19 August at 8 p.m. / Happy Goat Coffee Co.
An art jam session to celebrate the last days of summer! Drop in to create and experiment with collages, led by artist FEZA. More information here
Medicine Walk with Louella Tobias / 25 August at 2 p.m. / Dow’s Lake
Explore a beautiful local site and learn from Traditional Knowledge Keeper Louella Tobias about the various trees and plant life forms with whom we share these lands. Snacks included. More information here
