Join a live chat with Drawing on our History artist Nalakwsis and guest curator Alexandra Kahsenni:io Nahwegahbow on CUAG’s Instagram (@CUArtGallery). 

They’ll be talking about Nalakwsis’s digital drawing series Soup’s Adventures, inspired by Eeyou intellectual traditions and the storied land and sky-scapes of Eeyou Istchee. They’ll also discuss beading practices and their work together on the exhibition. 

 

Participants

Nalakwsis (they/them) is an Eeyou illustrator, beadwork artist, photographer and writer. Nalakwsis is inspired by their Eeyou culture, history and stories. 

Alexandra Kahsenni:io Nahwegahbow (she/her) is Anishinaabe and Kanien’kehá:ka, and a member of Whitefish River First Nation, with maternal roots in Kahnawake Mohawk Territory. She is Associate Curator of Historical Indigenous Art at the National Gallery of Canada.
