Colin Muir Dorward: Some Paintings Enjoying Fresh Air

August 19 - September 1, 2013

In the summer of 2013, Colin Muir Dorward moved his practice outdoors, producing an excitingly bold and complex body of work that looks beyond the confines of the studio.

In these watercolours and oil paintings, Dorward explores our relationship to nature from a wide range of perspectives.

Depictions of nature as pristine, beautiful, mundane, despoiled and even obscene are assembled in a complicated array, revealing conflicting ideas and opinions.

Without making specific statements, these paintings represent anxieties about our changing climate and diminishing natural habitats.

Colin Muir Dorward is a finalist in the 2013 RBC Canadian Painting Competition.
