Front Desk Work

We offer five front desk positions to Carleton undergraduate and graduate students every year.

Academic year

At the front desk, you are the gallery’s public face. You will greet and serve visitors, answer the telephone, carry out cash transactions, staff exhibition openings and other events and learn about the work of great contemporary artists, all while gaining fantastic work experience.

We are open to hiring students from a wide range of academic departments. If you are responsible, friendly, hard-working and motivated, we’d love to hear from you.

To be considered for a front desk job at CUAG, you must first be approved for Carleton’s Work Study program. More information is available here.

Work Study applications are available at the Awards and Financial Aid office in Robertson Hall (room 202) in the summer. Please apply as early as possible, as funds are limited.

Once approved for Work Study, you can view the CUAG job postings on the mySuccess portal via Carleton Central. Be sure to follow the application instructions. Interviews typically take place during the first two weeks of the fall term.

Front desk monitors work approximately 10 hours each week. Two of the five monitors are designated as senior monitors and will be responsible for staffing the gallery each weekend. Your salary is set by the Work Study office.

Carleton University is strongly committed to fostering diversity within its community as a source of excellence, cultural enrichment and social strength. We welcome applications from those who contribute to the further diversification of the University including, but not limited to: women; visible minorities; First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples; persons with disabilities; and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity and expressions.
