New visitor parking info / know before you go!

We have news! Carleton has created a big new visitor parking lot (P7D) and changed the rules and regs for other visitor lots near CUAG. If you’re using public transit or riding your bike, nothing has changed.

If you’re driving, please review the updated parking information on this page, including location and payment details. The map shows the parking areas and our recommended access route.

Car

Read the parking overview below. Choose one to park in and follow the driving directions. The route from all visitor parking areas to CUAG is marked with a green line on the map above.
Description of access route: Enter Teraanga Commons, go up the stairs and through the building, exiting onto the path outside. Turn right. The St Patrick’s building is ahead on your left.

Bus

Bus routes 7, 10 and 111 provide direct service to campus. The closest stop to CUAG is 6612, at Teraanga Commons. The route to CUAG is marked with a green line on the map above.
Description of access route: Enter Teraanga Commons, go up the stairs and through the building, exiting onto the path outside. Turn right. The St Patrick’s building is ahead on your left.

Bicycle

There is a bicycle path beside Colonel By Drive with access to Carleton at Hartwell Locks. Once on campus, head north to the residence sector and lock your bike in the racks outside the St. Patrick’s Building.

Para Transpo

The closest Para Transpo stop to CUAG is #19, at Teraanga Commons. The route to CUAG is marked with a green line on the map above.
Description of access route: Enter Teraanga Commons. Stay to the left of the stairs and go through three sets of doors to enter the tunnel. Turn right at the first junction and left at the second junction. The St Patrick’s building lobby and CUAG entrance are just ahead, through a set of doors.

Train

The O-Train Trillium Line (Line 2) that serves Carleton is closed for construction. It has been replaced with R2 bus service that stops at all Line 2 stations. Bus fares are the same as for the O-Train.

The winter holiday season and on Family Day (19 February), Good Friday (29 March), Easter Monday (1 April), Victoria Day (19 May), Canada Day (1 July), Civic Holiday (5 August), Labour Day (2 September), Thanksgiving Day (14 October) and Carleton University Reading Week (20 – 29 October inclusive).

Parking

There are three visitor parking areas that you can use when visiting CUAG. On weekdays, use Lot P7D or Lot P17. On Saturdays, use the P18 parkade or Lot P17.

All visitor parking is paid. You can pay one of two ways:

  1. Via a pay-by-plate machine, using coins, debit card, credit card.
  2. Via your mobile device, using Hotspot. You do not need to download the Hotspot app or have an account to pay. In every lot there is signage with a QR code that links you to Hotspot.

PARKING ON WEEKDAYS

You have two options:

Weekdays option 1: Lot P7D

Lot P7D is a big gravel lot. It is a sub-section of and accessed from Lot P7, the huge paved lot at the northeast corner of campus.

7:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. / $4.50 per hour or $13.50 daily max

Directions to Lot P7D:

Enter the campus from Bronson Avenue. Enter the roundabout and exit immediately on the right, into Lot P7. Drive past the parkade and turn LEFT into the big gravel lot. Park anywhere.

Payment at Lot P7D:

Option 1: ONLINE / Use your mobile device to scan the QR code on the sign posted in the lot and pay using Hotspot. You do not need to download the Hotspot app or have an account.

Option 2: PAY STATION / A pay-by-plate machine is located inside the parkade, at the closest (northeast) corner of the parkade. The pay station takes coins, and debit and credit cards. Enter your licence plate number to begin the payment process.

Weekdays option 2: Lot P17

Lot P17 is located on Campus Avenue, across from Teraanga Commons. Lot P17 has 19 spaces, including 2 accessible spaces. People come and go from this lot all day so you might be able to find a spot.

Maximum four hours / 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. / $4.50 per hour

Directions to P17:

Enter the campus from Bronson Avenue. Enter the roundabout and exit out the back, crossing the bridge over the O-Train tracks. At the stop sign, turn LEFT. Lot P17 is just ahead, on the left. Park in any open spot.

Payment at P17:

Option 1: ONLINE / Use your mobile device to scan the QR code on the sidewalk sign and pay using Hotspot. You do not need to download the Hotspot app or have an account.

Option 2: PAY STATION / Cross the street and enter the Teraanga Commons vestibule. The pay-by-plate machine inside takes coins, and debit and credit cards. Enter your licence plate number to begin the payment process.

PARKING ON SATURDAY

Saturday option 1: P18 parkade

P18 is the multi-level parkade built over the O-train tracks.

7:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. / $4.50 per hour or $6 daily max

Directions to P18:

Enter the campus from Bronson Avenue. Enter the roundabout and exit out the back, crossing the bridge over the O-Train tracks. At the stop sign, turn RIGHT and enter the parkade.

Payment at P18:

Option 1: ONLINE / Use your mobile device to scan the QR code on the parkade signage and pay using Hotspot. You do not need to download the Hotspot app or have an account.

Option 2: PAY STATION / There are two pay pay-by-plate machines in the parkade. D1 is located on Level 1, in the southwest corner. D2 is located on Level 2, in the southwest corner. The pay stations take coins, and debit and credit cards. Enter your licence plate number to begin the payment process.

Saturday option 2: Lot P17

Lot P17 is located on Campus Avenue, across from Teraanga Commons. Lot P17 has 19 parking spaces, including 2 accessible spaces. People come and go from this lot all day so you might find a spot.
