Doodle Your Senses workshop

Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre (enter at 290 Lisgar Street)

June 2, 2025

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Invite a friend or two and bring your creativity for a fun night of making art together!

CUAG invites you to join artist Zineb Allaoui for an evening of artmaking. Inspired by her Black Lines White Canvas series, we will explore emotions through lines instead of words. Participants will use black ink on white paper to doodle representations of the five senses (sight, taste, hearing, touch and smell), allowing symbols to emerge naturally. Let’s doodle our senses and see what feelings emerge on the page!

No prior drawing experience is necessary. Zineb will guide you through the process, offering tips and techniques to tap into your creativity.

This workshop is free and all are welcome. Supplies will be provided.  Light refreshments will be available.

Please email fiona.wright@carleton.ca to reserve your spot.

Zineb Allaoui is a multidisciplinary artist from Kenitra, Morocco, now based in Ottawa. Art has always been part of her culture. For example, her ancestors wove rugs with hidden symbols to tell their stories and used patterns only they could understand. Her practice, Black Lines White Canvas, follows the same instinctive approach. She paints without sketching, letting black lines flow freely on a white canvas to express emotions that words can’t capture.
