Drawing in a Greenhouse with Niloufar Salimi
Tropical Greenhouse at the Central Experimental Farm (Maple Dr.)
April 27, 2025
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Spend time amongst beautiful plants in a tropical greenhouse!
Join artist Niloufar Salimi for a plant drawing workshop, inspired by her work in The Air of the Now and Gone. As she says, “Drawing a line is to follow the existence of the thing seen, to become that other existence, that other living thing.”
We’ll gather at the Tropical Greenhouse at the Central Experimental Farm for drawing exercises that engage with memory, knowledge, and observation. Through mindful looking and drawing, we’ll practice being present with the plants and getting to know them more intimately through sketching.
This workshop is open to all levels and everyone is welcome. Please email fiona.wright@carleton.ca to reserve your spot.
We’ll have materials for you to use, but you are welcome to bring your favourite drawing materials, pencils, charcoal, pastels, pens, markers, or anything else you enjoy using!
Access The Tropical Greenhouse at the Central Experimental Farm is wheelchair accessible and there are washrooms nearby. We will have lightweight chairs for you to use.
