Drop-In Hours for Ace the Therapy Dog

The Carleton University Therapy Dog Program is an in-house mental health and well-being initiative designed to bring positive (or, as we like to say, paws-itive) support to the campus community. Through meaningful interactions with therapy dogs and their Carleton faculty and staff handlers, students can access welcoming spaces that encourage connection, reduce stress and support overall well-being.

Our therapy dogs and handlers work together to provide low-intensity, yet effective, mental health and wellness supports that help foster a sense of belonging, promote healthy coping strategies and create opportunities for students to pause, recharge and focus on their wellbeing.

You can visit Ace of Hearts at Carleton University Art Gallery every Friday afternoon during the fall semester.

Access Ace’s sessions take place near the relaxed seating area on the upper floor of Carleton University Art Gallery.

Participants

Ace, or Ace of Hearts is a Flat-Coated Retriever who is following in the paw prints of Zak (one of the original Therapy Dogs) and his sister Jazz. Ace has been described as a “love muffin” and a “wiggle butt” so be prepared for lots of tail wagging when you visit. Ace is a high-energy, friendly dog and is eager to meet you and loves being petted.
