Help us describe artworks for a future exhibition
For blind and low vision visitors to an art gallery, image descriptions are an essential access resource. But what if descriptions were part of art, rather than an afterthought? Join in on a collaborative audio work for artists’ Rachel Gray and Kim Kilpatrick’s upcoming exhibition at Carleton University Art Gallery.
We’ll look at paintings made by Rachel Gray and based on stories composed by Kim Kilpatrick, and record descriptions for them, which will become part of the exhibition! Varying descriptions of the same work of art reveal the subjectivities of description and the layers of meaning behind works of art.
This event is a drop-in format, but we would appreciate if you let us know you are coming by emailing fiona.wright@carleton.ca.
