With an essay by Diana Nemiroff

This publication accompanies The Ties that Bind, Jane Martin’s first retrospective, curated by former CUAG director Diana Nemiroff.

This free, downloadable and richly-illustrated PDF features an incisive essay by Nemiroff, in which she explores Jane Martin’s lifelong subject: human relationships, whether within the family, among friends, or the intimate give and take of the couple. The exhibition takes its title from the ties – often literal in Martin’s work – that express both the fulfillments and frustrations of these connections.

This publication is generously supported by the McKinven / Brown Art Gallery Fund and by the Diana Nemiroff Publishing Endowment Fund.
