Blind and low vision community members are invited to explore the work of Joi T. Arcand
Join gallery educators for a slow, tactile visit to their exhibition Joi T. Arcand: ᑳᐃᓯᓈᑿᐦᑭᐃᑘᐏᓇ kā-isinākwahki itwēwina: The Shape of Words.
The exhibition creates an alternate present, one in which ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐍᐏᐣ / nēhiyawēwin (Plains Cree language) dominates the urban landscape. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to listen to spoken Cree, touch artist-designed furniture and play with tactile versions of ᒐᐦᑭᐯᐦᐃᑲᓇ / cahkipēhikana (Cree syllabics).
This tour is designed specifically for members of Ottawa’s blind and low vision community and invites them to chat with gallery educators and explore the exhibition through all the senses.
This event is free to attend, and no registration is necessary, but we recommend that you contact Fiona Wright for directions to the art gallery and to answer any questions on what to expect.
